Visiting Snowdonia

Warden Service

End of the season for the Volunteer Wardens

27 October 2016

A big thank you from Snowdon Warden, Carwyn ap Myrddin and the SNPA to all our volunteer wardens.

It’s heading towards the end of the season for our Volunteer Wardens so to thank them for all their time and effort since Easter everyone joined up for a day in Nant Gwynant. The volunteers have been extremely busy again this year providing vital information for people at the start and on the Llanberis, PyG and Miners paths. Between all of them they’ve volunteered over 1,350 hours and they’ve collected over 350 bags of litter on Snowdon which is remarkable!

As part of the day we visited Sabine Nouvet from the National Trust at Hafod y Llan. We had a fascinating walk and discussion about the hydro scheme there along with conservation projects such as using Welsh black cattle with sheep in the uplands and the shepherding project that’s ongoing there on the higher slopes.

Once again we’d like to thank the Volunteer Wardens for their time and help for a long period of the year on the weekends and we’ll look forward to welcome them back before Easter next year.
