Farchynys Path - Woodland Walk
Farchynys Path - Woodland Walk - 6 January 2017
Grade: Moderate Leisure Walk
Distance: 1 mile - 2 km
Time: Around 1 hour
Terrain: Woodland paths and minor roads/tracks. Wear appropriate waterproof footwear
Farchynys woodland is owned by the Snowdonia National Park Authority and is situated in a beautiful spot near the river Mawddach.
This is my chosen ‘Walk of the Month’ for January 2017. A short walk of about an hour (and an opportunity to undo the general overindulgence of the festive period!), with magnificent views of Cader Idris and the Mawddach river. Even if the weather isn’t great, you can enjoy the sheltered path from the cover of the old woodland. Look out for the various native broadleaf trees such as the oak and the holly which draw the attention of and which are home to various birds. If you’re lucky you might spot a treecreeper or nuthatch, and hear a woodpecker. Enjoy!
