What is Cynllun Eryri?

Cynllun Eryri – Snowdonia's Partnership Plan

We have created a new Partnership Plan for the Snowdonia National Park: Cynllun Eryri.

(‘Eryri’, pronounced e – ru – ree, is the Welsh name for Snowdonia; ‘Cynllun’, pronounced cyn – llin, is the Welsh word for plan).

Cynllun Eryri reflects a change in the approach taken by the National Park Authority in creating a plan for managing Snowdonia.

The plan has been developed in the true spirit of partnership.

We have gathered your ideas and views on how to continue looking after and enhance this amazing place.

We’ve worked closely not only with those organisations with statutory responsibilities, but with all organisations involved in some way in looking after Snowdonia for future generations.

Eryri is an inspiring and exceptional environment in which to live, work and visit.

We believe that by working together we can achieve great things.

How has Cynllun Eryri been produced?

This has been an exciting time for us because we have had the chance to work with all those who have an interest in looking after the National Park, to create the best plan possible for what we’ll achieve in the next 5 years, and beyond.

Discussions, input and feedback have facilitated solutions to recognise, prioritise and address challenges and to realise opportunities. Coordinated thinking has been put at the heart of planning for the future protection and improvement of Snowdonia.

Cynllun Eryri will help achieve National Park purposes and deliver on national Welsh Government policy objectives. The most significant of these being the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 and the Environment Act.

The headline areas that we have focussed on in the final plan are our Environment, Health and Well-being and the Communities and Economy of Snowdonia. These three areas are closely linked to the National Park’s core purposes.

We believe that together our ideas and actions will create better solutions to protect and improve exceptional Eryri.
