7 April 2017

As weather forecast predicts unsettled weather over the Easter holidays, once again the National Park Authority is looking forward to welcoming people from all corners of the earth to Snowdonia over the next few weeks.

Awel Gruffydd, the Authority’s Information Centres’ Commercial Manager has been busy preparing for the season.

“The Authority has three Information Centres – Betws y Coed which is open all year round, Beddgelert which was refurbished last year and I’m pleased to announce that the newly refurbished Aberdyfi Information Centre has now opened. We've received a new stock of books, merchandise and souvenirs and we are delighted to be able to sell produce by many local craft makers, including Delyn Glass from Corris, Gary Short Photography of Dolgellau, Goetre Farm food company from Barmouth, together with Driftwood Designs and Sarah Bunton Chocolates from Aberystwyth, and many, many more.”

The Gardens and Tea Room at Plas Tan y Bwlch have also re-opened to the public, with the gardens full of blossoming rhododendrons and the new menu at the Tea Room has been very well received.

The cafe at Pen y Pass has also opened, with new technology reaching one of the Authority’s busiest and most popular car parks as a "Chip and Pin" machine has been installed at the car park. Edward Jones, the Authority’s property Manager explained further,

"Since installing similar machines in our car park at Ogwen, we've received excellent response from the public. This type of machine works via a satellite link and is beneficial to customers when they do not have the correct change to put in the machines. Our intention during the course of the year is to install more machines such as this at all our car parks. "

Distributed around hundreds of locations ready for Easter, is the 2017-2018 edition of Eryri/Snowdonia, the National Park’s newspaper. 85,000 copies were published this year, and it includes information on places in Snowdonia to visit, such as Yr Ysgwrn, castles in Snowdonia, Snowdon's footpaths, as well as information on some of Snowdonia’s legends as it’s Visit Wales’ Year of Legends this year.
