Aims:
To challenge countryside professionals to deliver access to all their facilities and services for disabled people .To provide practical guidance in overcoming physical and other barriers and to ensure that countryside service providers are fully aware of their duties and responsibility towards people with disabilities.
Course Objectives:
• Understand the practical, service and management implications of the Equality Act 2010 for the inclusion of disabled people in service provision and, to make practical links to Countryside and Rights of Way legislation (CROW etc).
• Improve knowledge and understanding of the issues concerning disabled people visiting and enjoying the countryside and explore ideas of how to get your message across to groups who are currently socially excluded from accessing the countryside.
• Develop access survey and audit skills and processes for such information to add value to service providers and countryside users.
• Develop further knowledge and skills in the use of “health check” tools for the review of policies, practices and procedures on their sites.
• Develop their confidence and understanding of their approach to access for people with disabilities and become aware of good practice examples of accessible facilities and services.
