Facilities

There is a designated accessible parking area and toilets adjacent to the trail.

The path itself is flat and is suitable for people of all physical abilities. There are also four accessible picnic tables on the path.

History

This land was given to the National Park Authority by Mr Ivor Idris in the early 1980s. His family produced the ‘Idris’ soft drinks, and the remains of the laboratory can still be seen at the site.

During 2004-5, the site was changed, and various parts of the path were improved.  The site was officially opened by Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas, A.M. in July, 2004.

In 2006-7, the path was extended by another 645 metres. This section of the path is also accessible.

The Trail

From the car park, go through the wide kissing gate on the right of the toilets, and go straight ahead over the bridge. The path begins on the left just after rhe bridge. By turning to the right, you will go back to the car park. By turning to the left and going through the kissing gate, you will come to a stone house. This is the Ystdradlyn Centre, which is the property of the Countryside Council for Wales, with an exhibition on Cadair Idris. The Centre is open during high season but is not accessible.

Go back through the kissing gate and follow the track under the leafy chestnut trees back to the car park.
