The National Park is watched over by a dedicated team of Wardens.
Their responsibilities are varied and include advising the public on safe and responsible use of the countryside, liaising with farmers to help with visitor management, leading guided walks, helping local schools with nature conservation projects.
With the assistance of the Estate Staff, the Warden Service also helps the public with access on public rights of way, permissive paths, and “Open Country”; erecting and maintaining stiles, gates and waymarkers and resurfacing paths as well as helping to look after the facilities which the Authority provides, such as picnic sites and woodlands.
Wardens live in the areas they serve and represent the Authority to local people and visitors alike.
For any further information or enquiries about the Warden Service, please contact the National Park Office.
