Snowdonia's nine mountain ranges cover approximately 52% of the Park area and include many peaks that are over 3,000 feet (915 metres).
The Upland Paths Partnership scheme was a joint partnership between Snowdonia National Park Authority, the National Trust, the Countryside Council for Wales as well as the Welsh Assembly Government to repair eroded mountain footpaths throughout Snowdonia over a 7 year period. The Partnership had 6 teams working on Snowdon, Ogwen and Cader Idris Areas. The Partnership ended in June 2008.
Since the Partnership came to an end, work has continued on repairing the footpaths on a smaller scale. Snowdonia National Park Authority has 2 teams working mainly on the Snowdon footpaths. The National Trust also have a team working in the Ogwen Area.
